We often get asked the same question from clients, so here we have made it easy for you to find out the answers to your burning questions:
Do you have a saxophone player for hire near me? Whist our company is called Essex Saxophonist for Hire, we have saxophone players who can travel to London, Essex, Kent, Surrey, Sussex. What types of music can a saxophonist play? A saxophone is a really versatile instrument; saxophonists are capable of playing almost anything, ranging from classical, to pop, to house, to jazz. While many saxophonists will specialise in one or more of these genres, speak to us about what music you would like to be played at your event. Read more on our Music Genres page. What types of events does a saxophone player perform at? Our saxophonists can play at many types of events and functions, from wedding proposals and wedding ceremonies, to corporate events, parties and pub gigs. Take a look at our Services page to see how our saxophonists can help you. How much space does a saxophonist need? For one saxophonist, about 2×2 metres will be enough —saxophonists usually stand so they don’t; require a lot of room. How much setup time does a saxophonist need? It takes approximately 10–15 minutes for a saxophonist to set up without a PA system; 20–30 minutes with a PA system. Do you provide a PA system? Yes we can, but if your venue has one, the saxophonist might ask to use it. Will saxophonists play solo, with backing tracks, or with other musicians? Any of the above! It simply depends on what you are after for your event. Saxophonists can usually provide high-quality backing tracks to play over (from just about any genre), keeping the atmosphere lively and energetic. The combination of DJ and sax or even DJ, sax and percussion is a popular choice when you really want to create a party atmosphere. A lot of wedding bands are happy for you to add a sax player to the mix, providing you with lively music perfect for any upbeat wedding party. Can a saxophonist play outside? You will need to agree upon this with the saxophonist beforehand. As long as you can provide adequate shelter should it rain, it should be fine! How long will a saxophonist play for? It depends on what occasion you are hiring them for. Generally, a saxophonist will play two to three 45-minute sets. Of course, they can be flexible depending on the schedule of your event, but keep in mind they will need 10–15-minute breaks on longer functions! Make sure to ask one of our flexible saxophonists how they prefer to work, it may be that they can personalise it especially for your requirements. Should I provide food? Again, it depends on what you are hiring them for. Musicians will appreciate water and light refreshments upon arrival (especially if they’ve travelled a long way to perform for you!). Meals are always welcome if say they are playing at an event where there would normally be a meal. Please check with your saxophonist when you book them. Do I need to provide parking? We kindly ask that you make provision for parking at the venue. Having to drive around looking for a parking space in an area you don’t know can be stressful, expensive, and may delay the performance. It’s worth talking through these details when you make the booking. Can a saxophonist play my favourite song/take requests? Absolutely! It is likely that they already know how to play it. However, if they’re not already familiar with your song, they will need adequate time to prepare. While most saxophonists will learn an extra song for free, please be aware that some may charge for this extra service (especially if you’d like them to learn multiple new songs and the time frame in which they will have to learn them!) How far in advance should I book? We advise booking as soon as possible, especially if you have special musical requests. How much does it cost to hire a saxophonist near me? The typical price for a saxophonist depends on the type of occasion you are hiring them for. Please check out our Prices page to see what Essex Saxophonists for Hire charges.
